1. Review Classroom survival phrases--Quizlet
Phrases pour lundi et mardi (Monday and Tuesday)
2. Interro (quiz), leçon 1
3. Leçon 2, pages 27,28. Exercices 1, 2, 3
Quizlet--leçon 2
Homework/DEVOIRS
*1. Pages 19, 20 in the workbook/cahier
NOTE: Even if you aren't here the day something is assigned, you can still figure out how to do it quite easily. You are resourceful. Think about it: 1. Pages in the textbook will teach you what you need to do the workbook exercises. Just find the appropriate page. 2. You know other people who are in French 1. Ask them. (Yes, Facebook can actually be a learning aide--wow!)
*2. Find another song and add it to the class anthology. MOST PEOPLE DID NOT SPEND ENOUGH TIME FINDING GOOD SONGS! Listen to 5-10 songs before you make your choice. Remember, a "C" grades is Common work, a "B" Beyond Common, and an "A" is Above Beyond.

Bonus: Here are the days of the week: lundi, mardi, mercredi, jeudi, vendredi, samedi, dimanche

For this assignment you may choose verbs that are not on the list or even in the book since there are so many important things that people do that aren't in the French 1 book! (The president directs the country, for example, and artists paint, soccer players score goals, etc.)
J'aime frapper les personnes que je n'aime pas! (Headbutt during 2006 World Cup)
zhem dahn say ay zhem parl ay frahn say
5. Practice your pronunciation! You will be presenting on Monday
Even though many teachers hate Google Translate, it is good for getting a basic accent.
To hear the accent, simply type in French and then hit the speaker icon. I believe that the maximum number of characters that Google Translate will speak is 100.
The accent on Quizlet is even better. To hear it, you will need to make flash cards and set the language for French. You can probably figure out how to do it (create an account, etc.)

How to find a French speaking penpal on Instagram:
Go to page 9 in the textbook and look at French names.
In Instagram, search for those names and eventually you will find someone!

le 15 (quinze) septembre

HOMEWORK:
1. Memorize the three phrases from Classroom survival phrases--Quizlet
2. Memorize spelling of all words in exercise 5 on page 17.
Homework, by definition, means work that is done at home or any other place before class starts next time :}
Memorize, last time I checked, means to commit to memory flawlessly, and spelling is, uh, all of the right letters in the right order, including accent marks.
No, there will not be a test over these tomorrow, but you will likely be required to know these phrases and it could be a bit awkward if you don't know it }B^)

Bonjour, classe! Je suis très enthousiaste. La classe est bon et vous êtes chouettes. Merci. Vous comprennez? Use context to try to figure out what this says. Don't feel bad if you don't understand all of it. Just remember that a lot of these words sound like their English equivalents.

Classwork:
Take out your Getting to Know You sheet. If you  have 1/2 page of space left on the back, you will do the following exercise there. If you don't have space, use a separate sheet of paper and staple it to your sheet at the end of the period.

Introduce yourself in French. I have listed page numbers that cover the phrases.

Hello (page 15)
Bonjour bo(n) zhoor (don't pronounce the "n" as strongly as in "bone" but do a little--nasal)

Qu'est-ce que tu aimes? (literally, what is it that you like?)
kess kuh too em?

Watch DVD introductions
Watch "hamburger" from The Pink Panther

You will always have homework in this class and I deeply apologize for not giving you homework over the weekend ;}
You will be learning all of the phrases from these Quizlet decks. The pace is as follows:
1 phrase on Mondays; 2 on the next day of the week; 2 the last day of the week; 2 over the weekend.
That's one per day, or 365 per year. And that, my friends, is the fast track toward fluency. One phrase per day. It gets harder as time goes on, of course, because you have to remember all of them.
