Let it Go in French--Liberé delivré
Libérée, délivrée
Libérée, délivr♪
The snow glows white on the mountain tonight
Not a footprint to be seen
A kingdom of isolation,
And it looks like I’m the Queen.
The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside
Couldn’t keep it in, heaven knows I tried
Don’t let them in, don’t let them see
Be the good girl you always have to be
Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let them know
Well, now they know
Let it go, let it go
Can’t hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door
I don’t care what they’re going to say
Let the storm rage on,
The cold never bothered me anyway
It’s funny how some distance
Makes everything seem small
And the fears that once controlled me
Can’t get to me at all
It’s time to see what I can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules for me
I’m free
Let it go, let it go
I am one with the wind and sky
Let it go, let it go
You’ll never see me cry
Here I stand and here I'll stay
Let the storm rage on
My power flurries through the air into the ground
My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around
And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast
I’m never going back,
The past is in the past
Let it go, let it go
And I'll rise like the break of dawn
Let it go, let it go
That perfect girl is gone
Here I stand in the light of day
Let the storm rage on,
The cold never bothered me anyway

French

Laisse Aller

Le neige est d'un blanc éclatant dans la montagne ce soir
Aucune trace de pas visible
Un royaume d'isolement
Et on dirait bien que je suis la Reine
Le vent hurle comme un tourbillon d'orage à l'intérieur
Je ne peux plus le garder, Dieu sait que j'ai essayé
Ne les laisse pas entrer, ne les laisse pas voir
Sois la gentille fille que tu as toujours été
Dissimule, ne ressens rien, ne les laisse pas savoir
Eh bien maintenant ils savent
Laisse aller, laisse aller
Je ne peux plus le retenir
Laisse aller, laisse aller
Pars et claque la porte
Je me fiche de ce qu'ils vont dire
Laisse l'orage éclater
Le froid ne m'a jamais dérangé, de toute façon
C'est drôle de voir comment la distance
Peut rendre tout petit
Et les peurs qui me contrôlaient
Ne peuvent pas me toucher
Il est temps de voir ce que je peux faire
Pour tester les limites et les dépasser
Pas de bien, pas de mal, pas de règles pour moi
Je suis libre
Laisse aller, laisse aller
Je suis seule avec le vent et le ciel
Laisse aller, laisse aller
Tu ne me verra jamais pleurer
Je me tiens là et je resterai
Laisse l'orage éclater
Mes pouvoirs résonnent à travers l'air et dans le sol
Mon âme tournoie en fragments de glace tout autour
Et une pensée cristallise comme une explosion de glace
Je ne reviendrai jamais
Le passé est le passé
Laisse aller, laisse aller
Et je me lèverai aux aurores
laisse aller, laisse aller
La fille parfaite est partie
Je suis là dans la lumière du jour
Laisse l'orage éclater
Le froid ne m'a jamais dérangé, de toute façon

Thursday, November 20, 2014

aujourd'hui est le vingt novembre

Today you will divide into groups of 3-5 and write a skit using words and phrases from the book. Make it fun! We will finish writing them tomorrow and I will help you polish the French and practice. You will perform these skits Monday and Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Each skit must have a total of at least 40 words and may use any words or phrases from the lessons studied up to this point. Be sure that at least half of what you say is found in Unit 2. The idea behind this assignment is that it will help us review for the Unit 2 test, which will be given Friday, December 5th.
Use only words and phrases we have studied.

40 points
10 points--Show understanding of most of the French studied up to this point. Don't just focus on introductions or discussions of weather. Talking about the weather is boring in ANY language!
10 points--Write accurate French. Most of this will be phrases from the book, but you should consider creating your own sentences using bits and pieces of language that you've learned.
10 points--Show fluency of delivery. You will  need to practice!
5 points--creativity
5 points--dramatic presentation. Use props!

You may film your skit, but it is definitely NOT required.
NOTE: If you would like to use words that we have not studied up to this point, they must either be:

  • cognates. Words that are virtually the same in French and English (cognates) and are recognizable.  Préfère means prefer, for example. If you go to your dictionary and maybe a thesaurus you can often find a word that is a cognate.
  • Anything that I've taught  you that isn't in the book
  • You may have cue cards or subtitles (for video) for up to 10 words
