Note on numbers:
In French, when saying three hundred, one says trois cents but with 1000 it is trois mille (no "s"). But with billions and trillions, etc. one retains the "s." You ask why? Beats me!
Here's a website explanation: Numbers in French
GO OVER UNIT 2 TEST.
EVERYONE WILL RETAKE WHEN WE GET BACK (Thur/Fri)
NOTEBOOK: You will all be required to purchase a small three-ring binder or spiral notebook just for this class. You will hand it in the Tue/Wed prior to finals as well as every six weeks next semester.
Notebook Sections:
1.Vocabulary
2. Grammar
3. Culture
4. Other notes
5. Your observations, things you learn on your own which I don't require you to write (vocabulary, grammar, French inflection, etc.)
Extra Credit Video Project. Up to 1/2 grade added to your final grade. An 85.1% turns into an A, for example.
Film a restaurant scene using vocabulary, grammar, and sentences from the book. Anything goes. Some students might even film the cook making the food, telling the recipe and explaining how to cook. This is difficult since we haven't studied those words, but it could be very fun. Any words or phrases that you use which are not in the book must be explained. You will need to either: 1. have subtitles or, 2. a handout with the vocabulary and English equivalents.
