Review: the word "un" means "1" as well as "a or an." You say "un garçon" for "a boy" but "une fille" for a girl
All words in French are male or female. Memorize which whenever you learn a new word. Sometimes you'll need to look it up in the back of the text where there is a dictionary : )

The words "le" and "la" mean "the." Le is masculine and la is feminine.
