Verb Day!

CLASSWORK:
Write sentences from 10 -er verbs. Look up other words to use in the back of the book.
You must have at least one sentence for each of the subject pronouns:
Je                  Nous
Tu                 Vous
Elle               Ils

HOMEWORK:
Go to the following Google Doc and follow the directions. 10 points, due tomorrow

Important verbs in French, 3rd Period
Important Verbs in French, 4th Period
Most Important Verbs In French--Verbs Ending in  “--er”

Assignment--10 points
Each one of you is to enter a verb and a sentence in this Google Doc. Do it like this:
Example:
Dégoûter: To disgust (Mr. Isom)
Ce type me dégoûte = that guy disgusts me
Example 2:
Errer: to wander (Nadia)
Pas tous qui errent sont perdus = not all who wander are lost

Now enter your verbs below, along with the English definition. Then type a sentence with English translation as well. Don’t just use Google translate! If you must use a translator, simply use it as a dictionary, looking up one word at a time. Otherwise your sentence will have grammar concepts that you don’t know, and you won’t receive full credit.

aujourd'hui est le vingt novembre

Today you will divide into groups of 3-5 and write a skit using words and phrases from the book. Make it fun! We will finish writing them tomorrow and I will help you polish the French and practice. You will perform these skits Monday and Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Each skit must have a total of at least 40 words and may use any words or phrases from the lessons studied up to this point. Be sure that at least half of what you say is found in Unit 2. The idea behind this assignment is that it will help us review for the Unit 2 test, which will be given Friday, December 5th.
Use only words and phrases we have studied.

40 points
10 points--Show understanding of most of the French studied up to this point. Don't just focus on introductions or discussions of weather. Talking about the weather is boring in ANY language!
10 points--Write accurate French. Most of this will be phrases from the book, but you should consider creating your own sentences using bits and pieces of language that you've learned.
10 points--Show fluency of delivery. You will  need to practice!
5 points--creativity
5 points--dramatic presentation. Use props!

You may film your skit, but it is definitely NOT required.
NOTE: If you would like to use words that we have not studied up to this point, they must either be:

  • cognates. Words that are virtually the same in French and English (cognates) and are recognizable.  Préfère means prefer, for example. If you go to your dictionary and maybe a thesaurus you can often find a word that is a cognate.
  • Anything that I've taught  you that isn't in the book
  • You may have cue cards or subtitles (for video) for up to 10 words

Time and date

On a sheet of paper, write the following:
Verb conjugations for verbs ending in "-er" in French.
If you don't understand my explanation, turn to page 94 in the book to see how they explain it all.
Copy verbs from the board and then write your own!
To do this, go to the dictionary at the back of the book (about 5 pages from the very end) and find a verb that ends in -er.  To think (penser) does, for example.

Type the time and date.
example: It is 9:56, November 3
Il est neuf heures cinquante-six, le trois novembre

3. The moment that the first of the Twin Towers was hit on September 11th
     8:45, September 11.
4. The exact moment that President Nixon resigned
5. At exactly what time was George Alexander born to Katherine Middleton and Prince William (British royal family, if you don't happen to know)
